Waterside Estates Pool will remain closed

The board has re-evaluated the opening of the pool (as of the July 2020 meeting) and have decided to keep it closed. We will re-evaluate it again next month.

We have worked with Crest Management, our insurance companies, and Trident Aquatics (our pool management company) to see what it would take to open the pool for the 2020 Summer season.  The guidelines we have received from these sources outline significant risks to the association and its residents.  Unfortunately the board has decided that the best course of action will be to leave the pool closed during the 2020 summer season.

To explain how we came to this decision, we would like to share some of the requirements for opening the pool:

  • The insurance companies for both the HOA, and Trident Aquatics, require each visitor to the pool area to sign a release of liability from becoming ill, or claiming to become ill with COVID-19 by using the facility, upon each visit to the pool.
  • There will be no furniture provided.  Patrons would need to bring their own chairs.
  • The slide and water-park areas would be closed.
  • No balls, floats, or toys of any kind would be allowed in the pool area
  • Residents would be limited in number, as well as amount of time, in the pool area
  • No guests would be allowed, only community residents would be allowed
  • Because there is no way to for the lifeguards to know who resides in the same household, social distancing would be strictly enforced at all time between all patrons
  • Masks must be worn at all times when not in the swimming pool
  • Drinking fountains would be disabled
  • Additional staff would be required at gate to verify community membership and maintain number of patrons within facility.

For these reasons, the HOA Board has voted unanimously to keep the pool closed for the season.  As of this time, of the communities that Crest Management represents, less the 1/3 of them have decided to open under these requirements for a trial period.
